Junior Achievement Of Elkhart County

Junior Achievement of Elkhart County, Inc., began in 1959 with the original JA Evening Program to teach high school students entrepreneurship and basic economic skills. In 1985 Junior Achievement introduced in-school economic education programs in the junior high and high school curriculum. Today Junior Achievement of Elkhart County serves students in grades K through 12 with economic education in all school systems in the county. These classes are taught by local business leaders for one hour per week during business hours in the school classroom. During the 1993-94 school year Junior Achievement had over 400 volunteers active in economic education of the area's youth.

Poly-Stitch

Poly-Stitch, owned and operated by Dave Jenkins, manufactures and distributes a granular adhesive utilized in the garment industry.

Poly-Stitch is a low temperature granule, similar to salt or sugar, that is activated by steam heat. It is non-toxic, odorless, water-repellant and has no gas release. It provides an almost invisible bond line on all fabrics and creates a soft flexible hem with excellent wash resistance, but poor solvent resistance. Poly-Stitch, which is distributed world wide, is currently being used in bridal and costume stores, motion picture studios and high school and college bands to adjust tuxedos, dresses, costumes and uniforms.
